CBD oil is becoming increasingly popular. This means that many people come into contact with CBD and try it out. To make CBD effective, it is necessary to take CBD oil for a longer period of time.

However, there are various reasons why people stop using CBD. One of the reasons is the taste. Can this be influenced? Where does the ‘herbal’ taste come from? And what is the difference between CBD oil with hemp seed oil and MCT oil?

Where does the herbal taste of CBD oil come from?

To understand where the herbal taste of CBD oil comes from, let's first look at what CBD is. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is one of the many substances found in the cannabis plant. CBD is a natural product and can therefore have a herbal taste.

When CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant, it is a paste-like substance. A solid substance that you cannot eat. At least, it is not recommended. The taste is naturally very herbal and bitter.

To make a product with CBD, the CBD is added to this product. These can be CBD edibles, CBD supplements, or even beauty products with CBD. The most well-known form of CBD is CBD oil.

CBD oil

CBD oil is popular and therefore used the most. CBD itself is already herbal. The oil added to CBD can influence the taste.

What is MCT oil?

MCT oil is also known as coconut oil. Regular coconut oil has a solid structure that only becomes liquid at temperatures between 30 and 37 degrees Celsius. MCT oil is the part of coconut oil that remains liquid at room temperature and is therefore easy to mix with CBD.

The oil has a neutral taste and is very popular among athletes and vegans. By combining MCT oil with its neutral taste with CBD, the CBD oil mixed with MCT oil has a mildly herbal taste. If you do not like the herbal taste of CBD oil, you can choose a CBD oil with MCT oil.

What is hemp seed oil?

Hemp seed oil. The name says it all: oil made from hemp seeds. By cold pressing the seeds, oil is produced. Hemp seed oil is often used to make CBD oil. The oil is also frequently used without CBD. Hemp seed oil falls under the category of vegetable oils and is often used in home cooking.

In most cases, CBD is still mixed with hemp seed oil. The first CBD oil was made with hemp seed oil and is still popular. The oil itself has a herbal taste. When hemp seed oil is mixed with CBD, it results in a herbal CBD oil.

When do you choose MCT oil and when hemp seed oil?

Both hemp seed oil and MCT oil have been discussed above. The biggest difference is the taste. If you like a herbal taste and prefer CBD oil that tastes herbal, then you choose a CBD oil made with hemp seed oil.

If you do not like the herbal taste of CBD, then you choose MCT oil. The CBD oil made with MCT oil has a mildly herbal taste.

It may happen that you do not like the taste of CBD oil. In this case, you can choose CBD capsules. This is often the case with children or elderly people.

There are also various CBD oils that have added flavors. For example, ProHemp offers different flavored CBD oils. Besides CBD oil with hemp seed oil or MCT oil, you can also choose a CBD oil with orange flavor or CBD oil with peppermint flavor.

What substances are in CBD oil?

There are three different types of CBD: CBD Full Spectrum, CBD Broad Spectrum, and pure CBD. Full spectrum CBD oil contains all the substances from the oil. The cannabis plant contains more than 104 active substances. The most well-known is CBD.

Besides CBD, there are other substances such as CBG, CBN, CBC, CBGA, and CBDA. There is also a small amount of THC. This is minimal and therefore not detectable or illegal.

CBD

In broad spectrum CBD, all substances from the plant are filtered out except THC. This is why it is also called THC-free oil. Pure CBD oil consists only of CBD. The process to make this oil is very time-consuming and therefore often more expensive.

The most common CBD oil is Full Spectrum CBD oil. The substances from the cannabis plant enhance each other's effects, creating the ‘Entourage effect’. The different substances ensure optimal effectiveness.

The oil added to the CBD does not affect the substances. However, it does influence the taste. Therefore, there is Full Spectrum oil based on MCT oil and based on hemp seed oil.
