Back pain, you probably recognize it. It can suddenly strike or you may suffer from it daily. Over 2 million people in the Netherlands suffer from neck or back complaints. These complaints can affect your daily routine and may cause you to no longer function normally. Is there a solution for this, and does CBD oil or cannabis oil help with neck or back complaints? In the following blog article, we will explore this in more detail.
What is back pain?
Back pain is often felt in the lower back. Lower back pain is also called lumbago or a slipped disc. 80% of people experience it at some point. Sometimes it lasts longer than other times. It is difficult to determine exactly what causes the back pain.
For most people, lower back pain is related to the muscles, joints, or ligaments in the back. These are often 'out of shape' with back pain or early-stage back pain, causing the pain. The back pain can go away quickly but can also persist.

With lower back pain, the pain can radiate to the buttock or leg. If you have a job where you have to stand or sit for long periods, this can be quite bothersome. The back pain can also cause you to sleep poorly, have less energy, and lead to stress.
What is neck pain?
Neck pain, like back pain, is often caused by the muscles, ligaments, or joints in the neck. Neck pain often arises suddenly and can be very troublesome. You may no longer be able to turn your head properly, and it can radiate to your head, causing headaches. Neck pain is often a dull ache felt above your shoulders.
Neck pain can come on without reason but can also result from a hard impact, such as in a car accident. The pain can also develop gradually and worsen over time. The pain can radiate to your hands or fingers and may cause reduced strength in your hands.
CBD and pain complaints
CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is one of the many substances from the cannabis plant. CBD is becoming increasingly popular and is more often used for pain complaints. Not only for pain complaints but also for many other complaints, CBD is used. Besides CBD, there are other cannabinoids in the cannabis plant.
The cannabinoids enhance each other's effects, creating an ‘entourage effect.’ This CBD oil is called Full Spectrum CBD oil. This oil is often used for pain complaints such as back pain or neck pain.

When you use the correct dosage of CBD oil, it can reduce or even completely eliminate your back or neck pain.
What does CBD do for back and neck complaints?
Our body has an endocannabinoid system. This system transmits pain signals, among other things. Often, the endocannabinoid system is out of balance, and pain signals are transmitted incorrectly. CBD can help bring this system back into balance.
CBD can also have a positive effect on further breakdown of bone cells or cartilage. It can promote better muscle development and faster recovery of your muscles after exertion.
CBD can also help you experience less stress or improve your sleep quality. If you sleep better and get enough rest, complaints such as neck and back pain can disappear faster.
CBD and chronic (back) pain
If your complaints persist longer, we speak of chronic pain. Using CBD oil can reduce your pain. Chronic pain is a more severe complaint. There are different percentages of CBD oil. For example, the lightest CBD oil 5% and the strongest CBD oil 30%. If you have never used CBD oil before, we recommend starting with CBD oil 10% for chronic complaints.
When you start using CBD oil for the first time, you should consider the build-up phase. In this phase, your body gets used to the CBD, and the endocannabinoid system absorbs the CBD. You start with three drops three times a day and increase the dosage by 1 drop per dose after three days.
When you reach six drops per dose, you switch to a stronger CBD oil. If you started with 10% CBD oil, you move to CBD oil 20%. This contains twice as much CBD.
To get the same amount of CBD, you can halve the dosage. You go from three times a day 6 drops (10%) to three times a day 3 drops (20%).
You increase the dosage again by 1 drop at a time until you reach a maximum of 9 drops.
The first few weeks, you will feel little effect from the CBD. This is because your body is absorbing the CBD. Most CBD users feel the first effects after about 2 weeks. Stress decreases, and sleep quality can improve.
After 6 to 8 weeks, you may feel the pain lessen or disappear. It is therefore very important to continue using CBD consistently and not stop in between. If you stop for a few weeks, you may have to start over and go through the build-up phase again.
Tips to prevent back or neck pain
If you have pain in your back or neck, it is usually due to the muscles, ligaments, or joints in your neck or back. Anyone can experience back pain, but it is nice to get rid of it quickly. The stronger your muscles are, the faster you recover from back pain. If your overall condition and health are in order, you recover faster from back pain.
It is important to take your vitamins properly. Think of vitamin C and your vitamin D. You can get all your vitamins by taking multivitamins daily.

It also helps if you move or exercise. You can (gently) train your back. It is important to build this up gradually and not overload your back. When you exercise, it is advisable to take ZMA capsules. ZMA contains a mix of vitamins. The magnesium, zinc, and vitamin B6 have a positive effect on your immune system. It helps you feel less tired and perform your exercises better.
On the ProHemp website, you will find many products that can help with your back or neck complaints.
Try to do stretching exercises in addition to movement. The more flexible your muscles are, the less likely you are to experience muscle pain. You can get back pain from making a wrong movement or a movement your body cannot handle. This can cause sharp pain in your back. By stretching your muscles, you can make better movements and experience back pain less often.
