Learn about CBD oil
What is CBD
Before you start using CBD oil, it is good to know what CBD is. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is a substance from the cannabis plant. CBD oil is often compared to cannabis oil but is not the same. Cannabis oil contains a large amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), while CBD oil often contains no or only a small percentage of THC. The cannabis plant used to make CBD products is only cultivated for making CBD products. It is not possible to make cannabis oil or other cannabis products from it.
CBD oil is often compared to cannabis oil but is not the same. CBD oil is legally available. Using cannabis oil can be compared to smoking a ‘joint’. THC causes a psychoactive effect and makes you feel ‘high’ or ‘stoned’. You will not experience this effect with CBD oil.

In addition to CBD, there are other cannabinoids in the cannabis plant from which CBD is made. Full Spectrum CBD oil contains all the cannabinoids still present in the CBD oil. The cannabinoids provide an enhancing effect on the CBD.
The endocannabinoid system
Where does it happen after taking CBD? And how does it work on your body? Every body has it; the endocannabinoid system. It is a difficult word to pronounce, the endocannabinoid system, also known as ECS. Endo means inside or within. It is often also explained as "own," because it is inside you. And with cannabinoid, people often think of substances that are illegal. If we translate the endocannabinoid system nicely, it is the body’s own cannabinoid system. The ECS is a system in your body that produces body-own substances that are good for certain functions. You have it, your neighbors have it, even your pet has it; the endocannabinoid system.
How it works
You are riding your bike to work. There is a tree on the road blocking your way. You call the municipality to have the tree removed. A few minutes later, the municipality arrives and removes the tree. You get back on your bike and continue riding.

A simple example of how the endocannabinoid system works. The ECS is a signal sender in our body. In the story above, the road is your body and the municipality is our brain, the organization that monitors and regulates everything. Because the endocannabinoid system sends a signal, the problem can be solved and you can continue on your way.
The endocannabinoid system does not repair defects itself, but it does detect them. The "tree" in this case can be anything. It could be pain, inflammation, thoughts, or other processes in your body. The detection of these defects happens at the cellular level. Signals are sent that connect to two receptors: CB1 and CB2 receptors.

Choose the right percentage
The first step is taken, you know what CBD is. You are ready to buy CBD oil. You see various CBD oils on the website. Which one is suitable for you? And why are there different percentages?
CBD is naturally paste-like and has a herbal taste. You cannot consume the paste as is. That is why CBD is often mixed with oil. CBD is commonly blended with hemp seed oil or MCT oil (coconut oil). The ratio of CBD to oil determines the percentage.
There are different providers who start with 2.5% CBD oil. This percentage is very light and often does not work against the complaints you want to use it for. You can choose this because this light percentage is cheaper than a stronger percentage. Depending on your goal/complaint, you choose the percentage.
At ProHemp, it starts with a 5% CBD oil. The strongest CBD oil is 30%. The right percentage depends on several factors;
- What is your complaint?
- How severe is your complaint?
- What is your weight?
- What is your age?
Every body is different and everyone needs a different percentage/dosage. Every body reacts differently to CBD oil. Children need a lower percentage than adults. If you are taller or heavier, you need a higher dosage than someone who is thin and slender.

To find the right percentage, it is wise to request a free consultation in advance. You will be helped by an experienced expert to find the right percentage.

Use CBD oil the right way
For optimal effect, it is important to use CBD oil correctly.
There are a few simple rules:
- Drop the CBD under your tongue
- Let the CBD oil sit under your tongue for 90 seconds
- Rinse the CBD oil away with water after 90 seconds
- Take the CBD oil 30 minutes before or after a meal
- Divide the daily dosage. Ideally, take the CBD oil three times a day
How should you not take CBD oil?
- Do not mix the CBD oil with drinks
- Do not mix the CBD oil with food
- Do not swallow the CBD oil immediately
CBD oil is broken down by your stomach. If you drop CBD oil under your tongue, the CBD is absorbed best. The membrane under your tongue provides an ideal absorption of the CBD. There are many capillaries under your tongue. By dropping the CBD under your tongue, you ensure that you benefit maximally from the CBD.

Think about the buildup phase
Many companies promote CBD as a miracle cure. This leads to many dissatisfied customers and quick sales for the company selling the CBD. At ProHemp, we provide honest information. For optimal CBD effects, you need to consider a buildup phase. The buildup phase can last 8 to 12 weeks. Many people give up after 4 to 8 weeks. This is precisely the phase when CBD can start working for you (with the right percentage and usage).
If you have never used CBD oil before, it is important to build up slowly. If you are advised to use 20% CBD oil, it is helpful to start with 10% CBD oil. In the first week, take three times a day three drops each time (9 drops in total). After 2 weeks, increase by 1 drop. In the third week, take three times a day 4 drops. In week 4, increase by 1 drop, and in week 5, increase by another drop. You will be taking three times a day 6 drops (18 drops in total).

After 5 weeks (or when your bottle is empty), start using the 20% CBD oil. The CBD oil is twice as strong. You can therefore halve the dosage. If you use six drops of the 10%, you can switch to three drops of the 20%. You can gradually increase the 20% again by 1 drop per week.
It is important that you use CBD correctly in the first weeks. Your body absorbs the CBD gradually, and the endocannabinoid system can recover through the proper use of CBD oil.

Use CBD for a longer period.
You have followed the first 4 tips carefully. Many people feel the effects of CBD and notice that their complaints have decreased. Sometimes we hear that the complaints have completely disappeared. A common mistake is to stop using CBD. This will work for a while because the CBD is still in your body. You might think, I’ll start again when I feel worse. This thought can be detrimental.
Once the CBD produces the expected effect, it is best to reduce the dosage. If you use 4 drops at a time, you can choose to take three drops. If you still feel good after 2 weeks, reduce the dosage to 2 drops. This way, you find the right dosage for your complaint.
