If you suffer from insomnia for a longer period, it can lead to reduced concentration, a lack of energy, loss of appetite, and feeling listless. It can also cause stress about whether you will be able to sleep the next day. Fortunately, we have good news for you! CBD oil can help against insomnia.

What is insomnia?

Insomnia, also known as sleeplessness, can occur in different forms. A mild form of insomnia usually lasts only briefly. You can also suffer from chronic insomnia.

Insomnia often results from underlying issues. Think of stress, anxiety disorders, burnout, and other phobias. When you have it, you often end up in a vicious circle. You have a heavy workload that leads to stress. Because of the stress, you sleep poorly.

Because you sleep poorly, you become tired and perform worse, have less energy, and become even more stressed. At work, more pressure is placed on you, and you start making mistakes. This keeps you awake at night again. You end up in a vicious circle you can't escape.

What can help against insomnia?

If you suffer from insomnia, there are several things that can help. We list the most important ones:

  • Do not watch TV, use a tablet, or be on your phone before going to sleep
  • Make sure you get enough daylight. Go outside for at least half an hour a day
  • Look for the underlying cause of your insomnia
  • Make a to-do list. Start the day with the task you dread the most
  • Eat healthily and supplement your diet with vitamins or CBD oil
  • Try to exercise for half an hour every day

When you feel good, you reduce external pressure. Think of work pressure or the tasks and chores you have to do privately. If you suffer from insomnia, it is good to make a schedule. If you know what to expect and what you have to do, you get through the day with much less stress.

Eat the frog, meaning start the day with the task or chore you dread the most. Once that's done, you can complete other tasks with a calmer mind. This applies both privately and at work. A healthy diet and sufficient exercise also contribute to your body's fitness. A healthy body can handle much more.

What many people do before going to sleep is watch TV, use a tablet, or check social media on their phone. The blue light from your phone and TV causes you to sleep worse. Our advice is therefore to put away your tablet or phone half an hour before going to sleep. You can still read a book or do the last things around the house.

Does CBD oil help against or with insomnia?

CBD oil is often used for insomnia, stress, or anxiety disorders. CBD oil can be a good supportive factor for insomnia. Depending on the severity of your complaint, you use the appropriate percentage of CBD. CBD oil comes in different percentages. The CBD oil 5% is the lightest and is often used for animals or children. CBD oil 30% is the strongest percentage we have at ProHemp.

If you have no experience with CBD yet, suffer from insomnia, and want to start with CBD, we advise starting with CBD oil 5%. Begin with a dosage of two to three drops three times a day. Increase this gradually. After three days, increase the dosage by one drop until you reach five to a maximum of six drops. After about four weeks, the 10 ml bottle will be finished, and you switch to CBD oil 10%. You halve the dosage and gradually build it up again until you reach five to six drops.

Because your body needs to get used to the CBD and absorb it into the system, you will not notice it immediately. CBD oil is not a sleeping pill. The feeling of calm in your body can come quite quickly. For some, this is after a few days; others experience it only after a few weeks. After a few weeks, you may notice that you sleep better and feel rested.

The CBD oil contains less than 0.04% THC. THC causes a high feeling. You cannot get this feeling from CBD oil. The small percentage of THC ensures that CBD oil is legal in the Netherlands.
