Which CBD dosage suits you? 6 tips for the right CBD dosage

If you are not yet familiar with how CBD works, it is difficult to determine the right dosage.

But not only beginners struggle with this; even experienced users face the problem that the dosage (number of drops) is too high or the CBD percentage is too low.

It is also very difficult to determine what the best dosage is. How severe are your symptoms? But your weight, age, and health condition also play a role.

The right dosage therefore varies per person.

In this article, we provide five tips on the dosage that suits you best and what to consider. The right CBD dosage is within your reach.

1. Ask for personal advice

At ProHemp, a team is ready to provide you with personal advice. Our experience allows us to give you the push you need to start with the right CBD product.

We first look at the severity of your complaint and how you manage it. Do you suffer from insomnia or chronic back pain? And if you have back pain, how long have you had it, and do you experience it all day or only at certain times?

Ultimately, you will find a suitable CBD product to start with together with one of our specialists. If you have been using CBD for a while and wonder if your current CBD dosage is right for you, we can review your usage together to see if it is appropriate or needs adjustment.

2. Allow for a buildup period of 8 to 12 weeks

CBD oil is often compared to cannabis oil. However, there is a big difference. Cannabis oil is illegal in the Netherlands due to its high THC content. THC is also what causes the ‘high’ feeling.

Therefore, it is easy to take too many drops of cannabis oil too quickly. CBD oil is legal in the Netherlands because it contains a negligible amount of THC.

When using CBD oil, it is important to consider a buildup phase. Your body needs to absorb CBD during the first few weeks.

Every body is different, but we recommend giving your body at least 8 weeks to properly absorb the CBD oil. Once your body is accustomed, the effect is optimal.

During the buildup period, start with one drop three times a day. Increase this dosage by one drop after three days. If you start with a 5% bottle and a 10% CBD oil bottle, you can take 10 ml of each.

You can get 200 drops from a 10 ml bottle. With two different 10 ml bottles, you have enough for the buildup period.

If you want to feel the effect quickly, ProHemp offers special vegan capsules that ensure CBD is absorbed 16 times faster in the first hour. This way, you not only benefit from rapid CBD absorption but also always have the right dosage. The capsules are tasteless and odorless.

3. Start with a combination of two different CBD percentages

Depending on the severity of your complaint, we always recommend starting with two different percentages. This can be a 5% CBD oil and a 10% CBD oil.

Your body needs to get used to CBD. By starting slightly lighter, you can feel how your body reacts. Once the first bottle with the lighter percentage is finished, you move on to the stronger one.

Your body has had a few weeks to absorb the CBD, and you can feel what the second bottle with the higher percentage does.

Once you have finished your second bottle, you can choose to continue with the same percentage or switch back to the lighter percentage, depending on the effect.

For children, we recommend starting with 5% as standard. Keep a close eye on your child and observe how they react.

4. Gradually increase the number of CBD oil drops

After the first 8 to 12 weeks, your body is accustomed to CBD. During the buildup period, you started with one drop three times a day.

After three days, increase the dosage by one drop until you reach a maximum of 27 drops per day.

If you notice you need more drops to achieve the desired effect, you can switch to a higher CBD percentage. If you use six drops three times a day of CBD oil 10%, you can switch to CBD oil 20% with three drops three times a day.

We also advise tapering off slowly. If you stop for several weeks, the CBD will leave your body. You will then have to start again. So it is important not to stop using CBD abruptly.

If you feel good about your usage, you can gradually reduce by one drop per dose every three days. If you notice the effect lessening, return to the last dosage. This gives you the chance to find the right dosage.

5. Listen to your body

If you want to find the right dosage, it is very important to listen to your body. This is easier said than done. Picking up signals is quite difficult.

Especially if you are busy or have a hectic life alongside your complaint. Our advice is to note in a notebook what you have done that day, how you feel, and how many drops you have used.

This prevents you from using too much CBD. It is not possible to overdose on CBD, but CBD is very expensive. Therefore, it is a waste to use too much.

6. Use CBD capsules instead of CBD oil

CBD oil comes in many varieties and is the most well-known among CBD products. CBD itself is a paste.

By mixing it with hemp seed oil or MCT oil, CBD oil is created. Depending on the amount of CBD paste, a strength is determined.

The lightest variant is 5% and the strongest variant is 30%. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, comes from the cannabis plant. Besides CBD, there are also other cannabinoids in the cannabis plant.

The standard Full Spectrum oil contains CBD, many other cannabinoids and terpenes, and THC. THC is known as the substance found in weed or weed oil. It causes a high feeling.

Products containing more than 0.05% THC are illegal in the Netherlands. Therefore, all CBD products may not contain more than 0.05% THC. This percentage is negligible. You cannot get a high from it.

Besides Full spectrum oil, there is also pure CBD oil. All other cannabinoids are filtered out. This results in a CBD oil containing only CBD.

CBD oil THC-free is an oil that contains CBD and all other cannabinoids except THC. Only the THC is removed here.

CBD capsules are capsules that always contain the right amount of CBD. If you don’t like the herbal taste or find it difficult to get the right dosage, then CBD capsules are definitely for you. The benefits of CBD capsules are:

  • You always get the correct dosage.
  • CBD capsules are odorless.
  • CBD capsules are tasteless.
  • CBD capsules come in a convenient take-away package.
  • Choice of vegan capsules, or with added vitamins.

The CBD capsules are easy to take. If you don’t like the herbal taste of CBD oil, this is definitely for you.

You drip the CBD oil under your tongue. It often happens that you take too many CBD drops. With the CBD capsules, you always have the correct dosage.
